Recipe Scaling Calculator
We built this tool to help nutrition teams scale scratch recipes to any serving size, using real menus from the districts we work with as a starting point you can adapt for your own kitchen.
Cupertino, CA
Cupertino Union School District
Scratch recipes developed by the Cupertino nutrition team using Gaia's Recipe Builder, available to scale for any serving size.
White Bear Lake, MN
White Bear Lake Area Schools
Mediterranean-inspired menus developed with Chef Rebecca Polson, including pickled cauliflower, chicken tikka masala, and sambusa.
How to use the calculator
Choose a recipe from the dropdown, enter the number of portions you need, and the calculator handles the math. Here is what each step looks like.
Select a recipe
Use the dropdown to choose a recipe from one of our featured districts. We add new menus as we expand our partnerships, so the list will grow over time.
Enter your target
Enter the number of portions you plan to serve, or specify a quantity for one key ingredient, and the calculator adjusts all other amounts proportionally.
Get your scaled recipe
All ingredient quantities update as you go, so your final recipe reflects the exact serving size you need. Print it or save it to take straight to the kitchen.
